My favourite thing about this piece is the texture. The earthy tones carry a beautiful, almost sandy roughness... a dry, mineral quality that feels grounded and tactile. In contrast, the olive green layer holds a high-gloss sheen, catching the light and creating movement across the surface.
From afar it reads calm and tonal. Up close, it’s layered, alive and full of depth.
There’s something incredibly satisfying about the push and pull between matte and gloss... land and light... stillness and shimmer. (And yes… I absolutely run my fingers along the sandy sections every time I walk past it.)
