Collection: The Real Places

The name for this collection comes from the idea that the places most real to us aren’t the ones we can point to on a map.

I have places in my heart, including times with my beautiful father who left us a year ago, that are so much more real than a fleeting, albeit beautiful, landscape I may have seen yesterday or last week.

It comes from my deep appreciation of the vastness of this land, the wildness of nature and the joyfulness of colour, that combined form to make the ‘realest’ landscapes and dreamscapes of my memories and imaginings.

Moments that stay, long after everything else moves on.

These paintings are painted intuitively and built up in (often many, many) layers, with palettes of pinks, greens, golds and ochres.

It’s my hope that while these are not literal places, they are ones that feel familiar to you. They are works that hold immense feeling for me… a sense of warmth, joy, and something remembered.

The Real Places is a collection about belonging, memory and the quiet power of colour to transform a space. They’re works made to live in a home, to bring light and depth and a sense of calm joy.
