somewhere in the olive

Acrylic and oil pastel on canvas
230mm × 230mm

Finished in a handmade flooded gum floating frame. As a natural material, timber may show subtle variations in tone and grain. Small imperfections may be present - a reflection of the care and craftsmanship behind each piece.

Price includes frame and freight within Australia.

A warm chestnut horse stands among deep olive greens. Apricot cuts through the middle, fence posts marking the way, a gum tree rising on the right. The foreground is a bold sweep of rich siennas and umbers.

The brushwork is dense and energetic… the greens worked in every direction, layered and alive. The brown foreground is layered and luminescent, with a layer of sienna mixed with bronze that nearly shimmers. Palette knife marks are visible in the earth. The horse is loose and warm, finished with oil pastel richness against the dark green. Chartreuse flickers through the bottom right, a sudden brightness in all that olive.
