This one is quiet and still ... no horses, just landscape waiting. Rolling hills in pink and warm earth, a line of gum trees along the ridge, big open sky. There's a sense of looking toward something, or someone, just out of frame. The paint is thick and gestural... broad sweeping layers of palette knife work across the pink hill, chunky white strokes in the foreground. The gum trees are worked up with a loaded brush, dark green and textural, their pale pink trunks catching the light. The sky is soft and blended against the sharper edges below, a real contrast between the smooth rolling forms of the hills and the rougher, more expressive marks in the earth and trees.
