This piece is about that instinct.
'the way I turn' captures a single sunflower emerging against a flat, expansive pink ground... bold, simple, intentional. The background is smooth and still, allowing the highly textural bloom to take centre stage.
The sunflower itself is richly layered with sculptural paint, building dimension through petal edges, seed detail and expressive brushwork. It almost lifts from the surface, contrasting beautifully against the calm, matte sky behind it.
It's a reminder of the quiet pull toward the sun(light) that sustains us and the inherent joy in the simplicity and availability of this turn.
